The new Honda Civic BTCC has been prepared to enter the Next Generation Touring Car or NGTC as the hatchback is putting on test by the Honda Racing Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at the Brands Hatch circuit. Hmm… a Japanese hatchback that takes the test on the Brands Hatch? It’s rhyme, don’t you think? Okay, moving on… the drivers for the NGTC competition has been announced as well because the season will be started on April 1st.

Honda appointed the Gordon “Flash” Shedden and triple-BTCC champs Matt Neal as the drivers for Civic BTCC race car. As you can see on the photos that the test which the Civic BTCC hatchback race car has been going through is the wind tunnel to know how many ground clearance they need to eliminate. The overall design of the Civic hatchback is based on the airplane styling which we think that all Honda has to do is eliminating some ground clearance so they can maximize the gravity power.

Here is what Matt Neal thinks about driving the Honda BTCC race car on the NGTC as we quoted from autoevolution.com, “This is the first opportunity we have had to get behind the wheel to really see what the car has got. The team are really pleased with the results from the test at MIRA last week and I can’t wait to finally start putting the car through its paces. It will be interesting to see how the car performs, but I’m optimistic that we’ll walk away from today confident we have a championship winning car.”

Gordon Shedden also shares his thought about the Civic BTCC race car, “The feedback on the new Civic NGTC car so far is incredibly promising and I’ve been itching to get into the car since the end of the 2011 season. Like Matt mentioned, this is the first time we have had to really push the car and I’m looking forward to putting it into action.”
