The German automakers better prepare themselves as rumor has it that Lexus GS-F is currently under developing. Perhaps its time for the Japanese luxury carmaker to join the game and tries to snatch victory from AMG. The GS-F might be released in about two years from now, in 2013 to be exact.

Lexus hinted that they probably will offer the GS-F sportscar, just like what they did with the Lexus IS-F. Toyota CEO – Akio Toyoda had a little chat with journalists at recent meeting that the “F” models are already in Lexus; list of future development plans. It seems like Lexus is fully-prepared to challenge the big boys from German, don’t you think?

Here is what Akio Toyoda thought about the Lexus GS-F sportscar project, “I want Lexus to be the brand chosen by the most sophisticated of drivers. I want Lexus to compete around the world with global Lexus models. And don’t worry about high-performance Lexuses like F Sport and F models going away.

Following unofficial statements that pointed Lexus was secretly working on a GS-F model. The thing with Lexus is that they intend to give it all out as the GS-F sporstcar might be powered by a supercharged version of the V8 engine. The same engine has been used to power the Lexus IS-F.

Say the upcoming Lexus GS-F is powered by supercharged V8, it means that the vehicle is able to give power output around 414 horsepower and with the supercharged, it could reach as much as 550 horsepower. To complete the performance, the gearbox choice might be an 8-speed automatic transmission. Lexus has no other options than to speed things up with the GS-F as BMW just introduced their new M5 series.
