Mitsubishi is at an offensive move to offer more eco-friendly vehicles as the Japanese carmaker has scored big success with their hybrid i-MiEV compact city car. The latest has no relation to revival of Evo in hybrid, but the Mitsubishi Outlander hybrid. Okay, it is still in hybrid area and this time, they proposing on SUV?

It is very understandable if Mitsubishi wants the Outlander in hybrid because they already proposing the PX-MiEV II Concept which has been rumored to be the basic platform for their hybrid SUV project. The news reported by daily business Nikkei through autonews.com and elaborated by autoevolution.com and hinted that the next-gen of Outlander will set to arrive around April 2013.

We really hope that Mitsubishi could give us the sneak peek on the Outlander hybrid SUV on the 2012 Detroit Motor Show or 2012 Geneva Auto Show. Since the hybrid powerplant is based on the PX-MiEV II Concept, it means that designing the exterior body doesn’t need longer period of time, right? To recall your memory, the hybrid SUV concept is powered by 2.0L four-pot engine with two units of 60 kW electric motor that generate 81 horsepower.

The Japanese carmaker mentioned that the driving range for PX-MiEV II Concept is 800 km (500 miles) with average fuel consumption efficiency in 60km/L (around 141.1. US mpg and 169.5 UK mpg – 1.7L for every 100km). Not much of details we can share with you now, but expect to see leaked images or any info on the Mitsubishi Outlander hybrid.
