Nissan LEAF is trying to catch up with Mitsubishi i-MiEV and Toyota Prius as they announcing the new price for the home charger kit. The full electric vehicle wants to have a fair competition with the i-MiEV which just signed a contract with Normal city of Illinois as the major wanted the city to be an EVTown. That is not what Nissan wants; the Japanese carmaker just wants to popularize their LEAF to support the go green campaign.

Most US customers still hesitate to buy hybrid or electric vehicle because not only the base price is expensive, but also the home charger kit is not affordable. For the Nissan LEAF, the home charger kit as been lowered down.

The original price for LEAF home charger kit is $2,200 and now has been reduced to $1,818. That price has included the hardware installation and extensive warranty. The home charge kit for LEAF is one of the supporting factors to familiarize electric vehicle in US because most cities in US have pretty high CO2 emission figure.

Brendan Jones – Director Nissan LEAF of Marketing and Sales Strategy of Nissan North America said, “By reducing the standard price for the installation of the Nissan LEAF home charging system, we aim to make the system accessible to a wider range of consumers.”
