Subaru BRZ Spyshots

It seems like we will be able to see the production version of the Subaru BRZ on the Los Angeles Auto Show this year as the Japanese automaker promised us. The BRZ was spotted took test drive with heavy camouflage sheet all over this body. It’s not like we don’t trust Subaru, but the heavy camouflage sheet could be meaning that they still in an early development of this affordable sportscar.

Speaking of affordable sportscar, it reminds us that Subaru is having an agreement with Toyota to produce an affordable sportscar. It means that Toyota’s branch – Scion – will also be introducing new vehicle soon. All three vehicles surely will be carrying its own design and signature, but for Subaru, since they are after the affordable sporstcar, they have been making everything simple on the BRZ.

Yes, the overall look under the heavy camouflage sheet on the Subaru BRZ sportscar is pretty simple. But, what about the engine? Can the Japanese automaker powered an affordable engine for this sportscar? Subaru is planning that the BRZ will be using the 2.0L 4-cylinder boxer engine that might be able to produce around 200 horsepower and mated to a 6-speed manual or automatic.

Other possibility is the BRZ sportscar will be offering a turbo charged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine which has the capability of producing around 300 horsepower. Well, with the additional of turbocharged engine, we think that BRZ might not be an affordable sportscar because that kind of addition rarely comes cheap, right?
