Toyota Prius PHEV Production From First Debut at Frankfurt

The Toyota Prius PHEV electric vehicle is finally will be joining the production line-up. the announcement from Toyota is also stated that the electric vehicle will be showcasing at 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show next month.

The Toyota Prius PHEV electric vehicle will have more compact lithium-ion battery which provided extended EV range and that means the PHEV is able to achieve outstanding fuel efficiency of 128.4 mpg on the European cycle. There is more, the Toyota Prius PHEV electric vehicle puts out just 49 grams of CO2 per kilometer which is almost half the ordinary Prius’ result.

The power for the Toyota Prius PHEV electric vehicle is coming from 1.8L engine that coupled with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. The engine is able to give 97 horsepower and the electric motor adds up an extra 79 horsepower. The lithium-ion battery for the Toyota Prius PHEV electric vehicle can help the vehicle to reach top speed at 62 mph (100km/h) in electric mode.

If the battery is on a full charge mode, the Toyota Prius PHEV electric vehicle can travel as much as (or as little, depending on how you look at it) 12.5 miles (around 20km), which is six miles more than the current generation Prius.

The Toyota Prius PHEV electric vehicle will not be the only new variants on Toyota’s line-up, there are other entries such as the British-built Auris, seven-seat Prius+ and the all-new Yaris hybrid.
